Maria Mendez, Acquisitions Specialist, has been chosen as the Yuma County Library District’s Employee of the Month for December 2017. This award is to recognize an employee that inspires us with their effort and attitude.
What was said about Maria:
“We have been trying to upload and integrate a new acquisitions model. This new system will streamline ordering, maintain quality control, reduce errors, keep an up-to-date budget per account type, and save time processing materials. Maria has put forth many, many hours inputting this program. She had to work through many different setbacks because the reports weren’t responding. Then the reports weren’t aligning with the vendor’s request, or they weren’t allowing patrons to place holds. Maria spent countless hours reading procedures, performing exercises using the practice software to understand the system, and speaking with representatives to resolve issues. She is now known as the go-to person because she has the insight and know-how when it comes to the new module. Maria worked tirelessly to create a seamless process with minimal interruption for ordering.
Maria is also now working on mending items. She has added to her work load by taking on this process. Mending is an ongoing everyday encroachment of another kind. If it is not dealt with on a regular basis, it becomes a monstrous task. She has helped streamline the process by taking on this work to assist our volunteers and staff.”
Maria received a mounted certificate, a name plate in the book of her choice, an Employee of the Month pin, and her photo will be hung at the Main Library during the month of December. Congratulations Maria!
