Chris Coolman, Library Assistant I-Youth, has been chosen as the Yuma County Library District’s Employee of the Month for November 2018. This award is to recognize an employee that inspires us with their effort and attitude.
What was said about Chris:
“Chris deserves to be employee of the month for many reasons. First, he consistently does work above and beyond his job description. (He actually does librarian-level work.) He has implemented Sensory Storytime at various branches throughout the district and conducted personal training to those branches. His presentation on Sensory Story time was featured on the State Library Facebook page and he himself has presented it for a digital Arizona Library Association conference.
On the branch level, Chris’ story times consistently number 60-100 in attendance. The patrons really enjoy his level of interaction with the children and their repeat attendance indicates this. He has implemented Harry Potter Day which, last year, drew 300 attendants. He is in the process of implementing a Winter Reading Program for children, which may be implemented district-wide.
Chris is consistently generous with his time, always willing to help not only his co-workers but also others at various branches, and always goes above and beyond the scope of his duties when he doesn’t have to do so. He is invaluable to youth services throughout the entire District and deserves to be recognized for the hard work that he puts in.”
“Chris is a phenomenal asset to the library, he goes above and beyond in regards to his programming. Sensory Storytime has touched and helped many families with children on the spectrum, and Chris has been a major factor and push behind this excellent program. The way Chris gives one hundred percent and his dedication shows his commitment and love for what he does. That is why I believe he should be the Employee of the Month of November, to congratulate a great individual on his outstanding efforts for the Yuma County Library District.”
Chris received a mounted certificate, a name plate in the book of his choice, an Employee of the Month pin, and his photo will be hung at the Foothills Library during the month of November. Congratulations Chris!
