January Teen Movies @ Main Library

Teens are invited to the Main Library afternoons in January for teen movies.

Monday, January 7th @ 4:00 p.m.
King Kong (1933)
A film crew goes to a tropical island for an exotic location shoot and discovers a colossal giant gorilla who takes a shine to their female blonde star. (NR) After the film, check out our books on apes.

Tuesday, January 8th @ 4:00 p.m.
Frankenweenie (2012)
Young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences. (PG) After the film, check out our books on pets.

Monday, January 14th @ 4:00 p.m.
The Man Who Laughs (1928)
When a proud noble refuses to kiss the hand of the despotic King James in 1690, he is cruelly executed and his son surgically disfigured. (NR) Based on the story by Victor Hugo. (Also the basis for The Joker from the Batman graphic novels.)

Tuesday, January 15th @ 4:00 p.m.
Ultimate Avengers (2006)
To confront an alien menace, General Fury assembles a team of superheroes lead by a recently resuscitated Captain America. (PG-13) Based on the graphic novels.

Tuesday, January 22nd @ 4:00 p.m.
Pina (2011)
A tribute to the late German choreographer, Pina Bausch, as her dancers perform her most famous creations. (PG) After the film, check out our books on modern dancing.

Monday, January 28th @ 4:00 p.m.
Freaks (1932)
A circus’ beautiful trapeze artist agrees to marry the leader of side-show performers, but his deformed friends discover she is only marrying him for his inheritance. (NR)  After the film, check out our books on the circus.

Tuesday, January 29th @ 4:00 p.m.
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teen-aged daughter. (PG) After the film, check out our books on Romania.
