Teen Hip Hop Club @ Somerton Library

Love to dance? Want to improve your moves, and learn new ones? Beginning Friday, September 5th, the Somerton Library will host “Teen Hip Hop Club” every Friday at 4:00 p.m. Learn the latest dancing moves and develop your own style. Teens ages 13-18 welcome! There is no charge to attend.

Teen Advisory Board @ Main Library

Share your opinions about what you’d like to see and do at your library! The Teen Advisory Board at the Main Library is looking for new members ages 13-18. The group meets once a month to plan programs and events, and suggest books, movies, music, and video games for the library’s collection.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, August 27th, at 4:00 p.m. in the Teen Room. New and current members welcome! Light refreshments will be served.

Yarn Over Yuma @ Foothills Library

Digital Photo Editing @ Main Library

Tired of photos with red eye, blemished skin, and other imperfections? Librarian Nicholas Dawson will teach you how to edit digital photos using Photoshop and GIMP on Saturday, August 29th from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Main Library. Participants are welcome to bring photos on a flash drive. There is no charge to attend.

Chess for Teens @ Foothills Library

Teens, put your strategy skills to the test with a friendly game of chess! On Friday, August 22nd, the Foothills Library will host a chess tournament from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Bring your own chessboard, or use one of ours!

Writing Lab @ Main Library

Need help with your writing? During the month of August, the Main Library will host “Walk-In Writing Lab” every Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the second floor classroom. Learn tips and strategies that can be used to create a winning resume and cover letter, and receive assistance with technical writing. Additional help with online job searching, e-mail accounts, and Internet searching are also available upon request. There is no charge to attend.

Digital Publishing 101 @ Main Library

Do you have an idea for Arizona’s next great novel? The 2015 OneBook AZ Goes Digital eBook Writing Competition will be accepting submissions for children’s, teens, and adult manuscripts from October 1 – October 14. One title from each category will be featured in the statewide OneBookAZ community read program, sponsored by the Arizona Center for the Book, and the authors will tour the state in support of the program.
