“Read to Lead” Teen Book Club @ San Luis Library

Share your love of books and reading! The second meeting of the “Read to Lead” book club for teens will be held Tuesday, July 29th, at 3:00 p.m. at the San Luis Library. Meet fellow readers, discuss your favorite books, and make suggestions for future book club titles and activities. Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend.

Egg Drop Experiment @ San Luis Library

Teens can attempt to become masters of physics at the San Luis Library! On Friday, July 25th, craft your Egg Protection Cradle (EPC) at 3:00 p.m. Everyone will be limited to the same supplied materials with which to build their EPC. At 4:00 p.m., find out if your EPC will prevent a fresh egg from breaking when it’s dropped from the second floor of the library!

Digital Photo Editing @ Main Library

Tired of photos with red eye, blemished skin, and other imperfections? Librarian Nicholas Dawson will teach you how to edit digital photos using Photoshop and GIMP on Saturday, July 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Main Library. Participants are welcome to bring photos on a flash drive. There is no charge to attend.

Lifehacks! @ Main Library

Learn how to utilize everyday household items in new and exciting ways! On Wednesday, July 2nd, at 6:00 p.m., Librarian Nick Dawson will share “Lifehacks,” shortcuts to improve your life. Topics include the $15 air conditioner, various uses for vinegar, how to get the most out of your microwave, and more! There is no charge to attend.

Optical Illusions @ Somerton Library

Trick your friends using optical illusions at the Somerton Library! On Tuesday, July 1st, kids of all ages are invited to create illusions using light, color, and patterns at 1:00 p.m. Afterwards, test your illusion with friends! There is no charge to attend.

Defensa Personal para Mujeres @ Main Library

On Wednesday, June 25th, Sensei Francisco Aguilar from Yuma Shorin Ryu Karate will teach “Defensa Personal para Mujeres” (Women’s Self Defense Workshop) for women ages 13 and older at 5:00 p.m. at the Main Library. Learn practical, quick and easy self-defense strategies. There is no charge to attend.

Please note, instruction will be offered in English and Spanish. Participants should wear comfortable clothes.
