Celebrate National Poetry Month at the San Luis Library! On Thursday, April 11th, 18th, and 25th, teens ages 13-18 can participate in the 1st Annual Found Poem Contest at 4:00 p.m. The most original & creative poem will WIN! Winners will be announced on April 26th.
Found poetry is the process of taking existing texts–this can be anything from a page of a book, news article, instruction booklets, dictionaries, toothpaste boxes, biographies, Craigslist posts, speeches, other poems–and selecting phrases or words, then refashioning, slicing, and reordering the selected text to present a new poem. There is no charge to participate.
The San Luis Library is located at 1075 N 6th Avenue. For more information, call (928) 627-8344.
