2016 marks the 34th anniversary of Banned Books Week. Observed since 1982, this annual American Library Association event reminds Americans to celebrate their freedom to read!
Beginning Monday, September 26th, sign up to do “time in the slammer” and read in a Library jail cell! Cells are located inside the Main, Foothills, Heritage, San Luis, Somerton, and Wellton, and are available for half-hour intervals during library open hours.
Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, American Library Association, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of American Publishers, National Association of College Stores, and is endorsed by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
