Caitlyn Ratcliff, Library Aide/Teen Services – Heritage Library has been chosen as the Yuma County Library District’s Employee of the Month for November 2020. This award is to recognize an employee that inspires us with their effort and attitude.
What was said about Caitlyn:
“Caitlyn has been an invaluable team member during the re-opening process at Heritage. With re-opening, we found ourselves in need of new tools in order to implement new policies and expectations. Foremost was a way to track patron library use across employee shifts to ensure a safe, healthy space for patrons and employees alike. Caitlyn listened to her co-workers brainstorm a list of requirements/wishes for such a tool and set down to develop a Google Sheet that incorporated everything. The “Heritage Library Appointments” Sheet is accessible to all branch employees, updates in real time, and incorporates a formula that automatically calculates the time a patron’s 30 minutes has elapsed. Check-boxes that color code a patron’s status as “in” or “out” allow staff to easily monitor the number of patrons in the building with just a glance. Taking the initiative to create this tool, Caitlyn has made the daunting practice of “by appointment only” into a simple click and type task. She has also helped branch management troubleshoot new policies related to COVID-19 by asking tough questions, forecasting patron responses, and improving how policies are implemented within our facility.
In total, she’s been pivotal to the smooth reopening of Heritage Library, which serves a unique patron population. Her contributions have helped keep staff and patrons safe and healthy while ensuring the facility consistently meets community responsibilities as an informational institution for the entire community.”
Caitlyn received a mounted certificate, a name plate in the book of her choice, an Employee of the Month pin, and her photo will be hung at the Heritage Library during the month of November. Congratulations Caitlyn!
