The Yuma County Library District will join libraries across the nation to celebrate Teen Read Week October 19th-24th. Celebrated every October, Teen Read Week encourages teens to read for the fun of it and check out what’s new at their library.

This year, teens ages 13-18 are invited to join local poets Erika Vazquez and Lucy Valenzuela for poetry writing workshops. Learn about different kinds of poetry, and how to generate ideas for poems from feelings, everyday experiences, and from observing the world around you.

Monday, October 19th ● 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Main Library
2951 S 21st Drive, Yuma AZ

Wednesday, October 21st ● 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Somerton Library
240 Canal Street Somerton, AZ

Thursday, October 22nd ● 4:00-6:00 p.m.
San Luis Library
1075 N 6th Avenue San Luis, AZ

On Saturday, October 24th, join Erika and Lucy for “Poetry and Pancakes” at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Library Teen Room. Read an original or published poem, then flip and eat a pancake for your bravery! Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend.

For more information, call Lauren Regenhardt, Teen Services Manager, at (928) 373-6487.
