The Foundation Center was established in 1956, and today supported by more than 600 foundations, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on philanthropy, connecting nonprofits and the grant makers directing them to tools they can use and information they can trust. The Center maintains the most comprehensive database on U.S. grantmakers and their grants. It also operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance philanthropy at every level. The Yuma County Library District (YCLD) is a cooperating collection site of the Foundation Center. The YCLD offers grant-seeking organizations and individuals use of reference and circulating materials, free workshops and webinars, and aid to finding and navigating Web resources. From the Internet workstations at the Main Library, grant seekers can search the most comprehensive electronic collections of grantmakers and grants available through three Foundation Center databases. The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits is a unifying association formed in 2004 to advance the common interests of more than 20,000 nonprofits in the Grand Canyon State. They are a statewide organization of, by, and for all of Arizona’s nonprofits.
Yuma Area Nonprofit Institute exists as the “Chamber of Commerce” for the Yuma nonprofit community. They serve, support and promote Yuma County’s nonprofits and provide trainings and networking opportunities. YANPI’s initiative began by United Way of Yuma County and the Yuma Community Foundation is housed in the Yuma County Library District’s Nonprofit Resource Center. When you become a member of YANPI you automatically become a dual member of YANPI and the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. YANPI’s partnership with the Alliance of Arizona ensures that the local voice of Yuma is heard at the state and national level. YANPI members also receive member discounts for Alliance Training events along with support and promotion for your nonprofit.
YANPI offers an opportunity for nonprofits to become members under one of four Member categories: 1) Enrolling, 2) Supporting, 3) Leading, and 4) Sustaining. All Members are eligible for the benefits, services, and rights of the Alliance under the Bylaws. Leading and Sustaining Members receive additional benefits and special recognition by the Alliance for their support in advancing and sustaining the work of the Alliance.
