HISTORICAL NOTE: The Arthritis Foundation is a non-profit health association founded in 1949 to spread awareness and promote research for treatment of arthritis. The Yuma Arthritis

Voluntary Action Committee was founded in 1984 as a local group associated with the Central

Arizona Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. The group later became the Yuma Branch of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. The group’s purpose was to raise awareness of arthritis and to assist the victims of arthritis and their families. In addition to educational and victim support the organization also organized fundraising events such as a Bowlathon and a Telethon.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE: This collection consists of documents from the Yuma branch of the Arthritis Foundation. Materials include various documents concerning the administration of the foundation, newsletters, meeting minutes, and membership lists.
