HISTORICAL NOTE: Alpha Delta Kappa is an honorary organization for women educators. The organization was founded in 1947 to support outstanding women educators. Membership in the organization is based on peer recognition, and offers access to numerous workshops, training sessions, conferences and conventions. In 1981 the organization founded the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation which supports yearly scholarships and endowments. It also contributes funds and volunteer hours to a variety of charitable programs such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Association. In 2014 the organization reported more than 40,000 members in 1,400 chapters across five countries.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE: This collection contains material pertaining to the activities of Alpha Delta Kappa organization. The information focuses primarily on two of the organizations chapters located in Yuma: the Fidelis Zeta chapter and the Alpha Kappa chapter.  The memorabilia folder contains two initialed Alpha Delta Kappa napkin rings, a flower clothespin, and a Silver Sister award. The photographs are mostly snapshots taken at various group events, the majority of which are unidentified. Includes a signed photo of Alice Faye.
