HISTORICAL NOTE: The Hermosa Garden Club was organized March 11th, 1946 by a group of young women who were interested in small home gardens. Mrs. Harold Corey was the first president and all meetings were held at members’ homes, and membership was limited to 30. It was affiliated with the State Federated Garden Clubs of Arizona.
The purpose of the club was to stimulate the interest and building of personal gardens. The club was responsible for many civic beautification projects. The club’s project flower was the Chrysanthemum and the club sponsored an annual show on the growth and development of its chosen plant.
The club disbanded in its 70th anniversary year in May 2016.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE: Binders of meeting minutes, annual scrapbooks, and yearbooks containing a combination of club activities, newspaper clippings and photographs of members and club events. Much of the club’s activities are well documented with accompanying photographs.
