SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE:  This collection consists of surveys and reports of historical resources of Yuma County, Arizona and Imperial County, California conducted by various agencies and consultants over a period of twenty years, 1978-1997.  It is divided into five series: 

Series 1: Yuma Historic Property Survey conducted 1978-1979 for the Arizona State Parks Board by the Yuma County Historical Society volunteers and prepared by Janus Design for the nomination to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).  Arranged by street, it includes files and photographs of individual properties as well as correspondence, survey field notes, drafts, and copies of photographs of unidentified buildings. The NRHP property number is listed in parenthesis if it was included in the nomination.  

Series II:  Regional Reports: “The Historical and Architectural Resources Within the Lower Colorado River System: Draft Report, Vol. 3 – Imperial County -Yuma County Area” was prepared for the U. S. Department of the Interior Water and Power Resources Services by Westec Services, San Diego, California in 1980; “The Cultural Resource Overview For The Yuma Division Project” was prepared for the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation by Matthew A. Sterner, Statistical Research, Tucson, Arizona, in 1992.

Series III:  Century Heights Conservancy Survey– The Century Heights Conservancy, Yuma, Arizona was prepared by Linda Laird and Associates, Tucson, Arizona in 1986.  It was funded with the assistance of a matching grant from the National Park Service and administered through the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office.  It includes 239 properties within a seventeen block area for a potential nomination of an historic district.  

Series IV:  Yuma Downtown Survey- Various surveys, reports, and rehabilitation plans for the Yuma Downtown areas that were prepared between 1986 and 1997.  It includes the 1994 nomination submission report to the National Register of Historic Places. 

Series V:  San Ysidro Ranch - Archaeological Project report by Janus Associates was prepared for the Arizona Historical Society – Rio Colorado Division in 1984.
