Historical Note: The City of Yuma’s Recreation Director, John Collier, organized the first meeting of the Yuma Camera Club in January 1949. The goal of the club was to foster fellowship among people of similar interests regardless of the camera they used. Members supported the Yuma County Fair Exhibition of Photographs and held presentations that were open to the public. The club was a member and participated in the Wind and Sand Council of Camera Clubs and hosted its Travelling Salons.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE: Four binders cover a short period of the club’s activities. They include newspaper clippings, photographs of club outings and picnics as well as membership lists and a few meeting minutes.
