GAMING LAB COMPUTERS

Using funds provided by the Yuma Library Foundation, Gaming Labs/computers for gaming, digital media creation, and esports are now available at Yuma County Libraries.

Acceptable Use

Approved use of the Gaming Lab/computers include:

  • Esports games and competitions
  • General video gaming
  • Video/photo editing
  • Graphic design and illustration
  • Coding
  • Other creative digital projects

General computing (word processing, email, etc) must be done on other public computers.

Prohibited Use

  • Illegal downloading, file sharing, or copyright infringement
  • Use of pirated games, software, or unauthorized media duplication

Rules and Conduct

  • No food or drink is allowed in the Gaming Lab/near computers
  • The Gaming Lab is a collaborative and creative space; silence is not guaranteed. All users must follow the YCLD’s Patron Code of Conduct regarding behavior and noise
  • Patrons must clean up after use and ensure all work is saved before the lab closes
  • The Gaming Lab closes 30 minutes before the Library’s regular closing time
  • Youth 14 and younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times while using the Gaming Lab/computer
  • Youth ages 15-17 may use the Gaming Lab/computer independently with a valid signed agreement from a parent/guardian. Agreement must be signed in person. Agreements are valid for 1 year.

Equipment & Content Policy

  • Users are responsible for any damage to Library-owned equipment due to misuse of negligence
  • The Library is not liable for user-owned equipment or files left behind
  • The Library does not moderate or control online content and gameplay; patrons must exercise discretion
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring minors’ interactions with games and other users

Reservations

  • Reservations are first come, first served, and must be made in person
  • Along with Photo I.D., you must have a valid YCLD library card that is in good standing (no fees on the account)
  • First time users will be asked to read and sign an agreement. Agreements are valid for 1 year
  • Youth 14 and younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times while using the Gaming Lab/computer
  • Youth ages 15-17 may use the Gaming Lab/computer independently with a valid signed agreement from a parent/guardian
  • Your photo I.D. will be held and returned to you at the end of your session

Gaming Computers FAQs

  • Also known as electronic sports, esports is a form of competition that is facilitated through computer gaming. Most commonly, esports takes the form of organized, multiplayer online video game competitions.

  • The Gaming Lab is a place where people can come together, create with technology, and foster digital skillsets.

  • Headphones may be borrowed while the Gaming Lab/computer is being used.

  • Yes, however, the Library District cannot guarantee compatibility.

  • Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, League of Legends, and Valorant are available to play by logging in to your personal accounts on Epic Games and Riot. Please refrain from playing games with content that violates library computer use policy; pornographic or illegal content is expressly prohibited.
