  • General Questions

    We can't get the following via Interlibrary Loan:

    • New books (within one year of publication)
    • Any item we own or have on order, including reference books
    • Audio-visual materials: CDs, books on tape, videos, DVDs, or computer software

    Generally, no. If there is a fee, we will ask you first if you want to pay it. If your material is overdue you will be charged $1.00 a day up to a maximum of $15.00. Loss or damage of ILL material is the responsibility of the borrower. Processing and replacement fees are not determined by the YCLD and could be substantial. Please be careful and return ILL materials on time to keep the system working for you. ILL requests not picked up on time may incur a $1.00 fee.

    Books are available for a three week checkout. No renewals are allowed.  Patrons are given 15 days to pick up ILL requests.

    The average length of time needed to receive materials is 10-14 days. However, a request can take up to 4 weeks to receive. Please plan ahead when making a request.

    You may have up to 3 active requests at a time.  Additional requests are filled as requested items are returned.

    Books one year or older and not owned by YCLD.  Periodical articles that are not available in print.

    A YCLD cardholder with an account in good standing, who will be in the area long enough to receive and return the item(s).
